Why Zamárdi?
From Zamárdi's belvedere, there's a spectacular view to the Tihany-peninsula and the northern coast of Lake Balaton. There are several smaller and bigger beaches available for free. Parking and beaches are free of charge in the whole town. Zamárdi is one of the sunniest settlement at the Lake Balaton. The water only slowly deepens, there are enough space close to the coast for the children and also for those who can't swim. There is also a harbour for boats and sailboats. Those who like active holiday, can find several freetime and sport activities like rowing, paddle boat,fishing, beach ball, tennis, football, go-kart, minigolf, bicycle, water slides, water springboard, archery, sailing and other outdoor activities. There are surfs for rent, and also a surfing school. From the middle of July, there's a playground for children every weekend. There is a gym, a football ground and a tennis ground for those who would like to stay in shape. Hiking routes with red, yellow and green signs; bicycles for rent; ferry to the north band of the lake. Visitors can horse riding, even on their own horse, and there are also horse exhibitions and competitions for the enquirers. Guests are welcome for wine or palinka tasting in the local wine cellars and manufactures. There's a paintball ground, and an adventure park is being built. There are several local events like city tours, concerts every Sunday night, annual meeting for motorbikers, street festival, or the popular Balaton Sound Festival.
Belvedere Kőhegy (Stone hill)
It is worth to climb up to Kőhegy!This beautiful hill is located southwest from Zamárdi, a unique place for winegrowing with many romantic winecellars, weekend houses and a spectacular view to the lake and the neighbourhood. It is supposingly named after the stones that stick out of the ground, as this phenomenon only occurs in this hill. We can reach the top of Kőhegy ( 219, 8 m) after a pleasant walk on a route sourrounded by beautiful wine cellars starting from Szamárkő (Donkey Stone). On the top we will see not only the lake, but also the whole coast from Kenese to Tihany and the basalt organs of Badacsony.
Marine Aquarium – Private Collection
This varied collection about the maritime fauna is a unique sight at the Balaton. This private exhibition was organized after ten years's work, a special opportunity to get in touch with both the mediterranean and tropical maritime fauna. Some animals can be touched as well. Nearly 100 species are exhibited from the invertebrates to the colourful fishes. There are 18 aquariums in the exhibition.
Go-Kart Lane
The best go-kart lane of the Balaton is found in Zamárdi.This is a 550 m long lane with several slanting bends, running with 10 Honda motorbikes of 270 cm3 . Round stop is possible, and the whole run can be followed on a big electric display and two monitors. At the end of the run, everyone receives the results of the competitors divided by rounds. Parking is free of charge.
